“If its one thing I love its taking photographs and when thinking of a wedding present for my husband to be I knew photos would have to feature strongly in it if it was to have me written all over it. The only problem being I’m usually the one standing behind the camera and never stood revealing much of myself. I don’t do skirts of any length the only time I show my legs is in my running shorts and then ideally not in public unless its dark, so when I saw Helens display at Hazlewood wedding fair I hurried past sure it wasn’t for me. I hate to be wrong but on this occasion I was. The closer to the event I got the more clueless about what to get I became so I thought what the hell just book it and hope for the best.

Right from the start Helen couldn’t have been more professional and accommodating fitting me in at the studio around my childcare issues and explaining everything I would need to take with me. When the day came the nerves hit but the moment Helen met me I was put straight at ease it’s the most comfortable I’ve felt having my picture taken I didn’t even notice my lack of clothes.  Some of the poses felt a little silly but at no time did I feel obliged to get into anything I didn’t feel comfortable with and the results were amazing I couldn’t believe looking back at them that some of them are actually me. I look amazing (and I haven’t heard myself say that before!)  I have already recommended the experience to all my friends and had to show off the pics to most of them. It’s something everyone should add to their bucket list no matter what age, size or shape Helen will make you look but most importantly feel amazing I can’t wait to go again in a few years and update my new wall décor. Oh I best add he was rather surprised and loved the present.

Felicity came to the Masque Photography studio back in November looking for some fun boudoir images for her husband for their anniversary. She pulled up in a campervan with her snowboard and boots, motorbike leathers and helmet and a selection of his shirts too, so we could add them into her photographs for a truly personal feel.

What a fantastic experience we had. She was amazing. We stood her naked sideways clutching the snowboard and peeping around it sat down. We couldn’t stop laughing at the time, but the photographs worked really well.

“The pictures that Helen took for me are all just amazing. From the minute you arrive and start having your make up and hair done you start to feel relaxed and forget all about the fact you’re being photographed. Everything is very private and Helen has lots of ideas about what shots will look good – though i think I threw her a little with the snowboard. My husband couldn’t be happier with the anniversay present of the framed photos – i’m not sure who’s more proud of them him or me!!”

Rebecca came to the studio back in October for a bridal boudoir photo-shoot for her winter wedding. We took some beautiful photographs for her then husband-to-be in her bridal lingerie, veil, tiara and garter. I received a lovely email this week, which I’d love to share with you.

Buying a present for a man is difficult at the best of times, especially when it comes to a wedding day gift. South Yorkshire based photographer Helen Burns set up her boudoir photography business – Masque Photography – in 2009 after spotting a gap in the market. “After completing a degree in photography and design I got into product photography but knew I wanted to do something more rewarding and fun. “When I left my job to have a baby I used it as an opportunity to stay at home and set up my own photography business. “Research revealed that boudoir photography was big in America but there were few photographers specialising in it here. Liz came to the studio back in August as a special 40th birthday gift for her partner Anthony. A budding photographer herself, she never usually opts to stand in front of the camera. However the fact she did would make her gift even more of a surprise to her partner. She was so pleased with the images I showed her on my camera, she couldn’t believe she had shied away before! Liz brought some print-offs of poses that inspired her which we experimented with and to my delight they worked fabulously. She chose to wrap up an A3 framed print for him. We both eagerly awaited his reaction.

“He was, well, gobsmacked, by his presents!  He struggled to believe that I had sat still in front of a camera without running away … He wonders what magical powers you have to make me do that  He says all the pictures are fab!”

 I opted for some time in the studio with Helen, rather than purchasing a package as I had some ideas about the sort of images I wanted. The service that Helen provided was 1st class from start to finish and I couldn’t have wished for more. There was lots of time to experiment on a ‘let’s see what this looks like’ basis and Helen made me feel so relaxed. As a person who usually (literally) runs from having their photo taken I couldn’t believe how easy she made it all. The results speak for themselves. The final gallery gave me lots of choice and the print that I ordered looks stunning. I would, without doubt, recommend Helen and will be going back!
