When is the best time for your shoot during your cycle?

When is the best time for your shoot during your cycle?

Interesting question hey, had you ever thought about when was best to plan it?

I had an amazing conversation today with menstrual cycle awareness coach Samantha Garstin in our Facebook Group ‘Behind The Masque’ about the different energies we have in the different phases of our cycles. She recommended….

  1. UNDERSTANDING HOW OUR MENSTRUAL CYCLE WORKS

  2. UNDERSTANDING HOW YOUR CYCLE WORKS

  3. FINDING WHEN YOU FEEL REALLY GOOD & PLANNING IT IN THEN

So there is a lot to take in there, so I recommend you head over to Behind The Masque to watch the replay (its pinned at the top) to get an overview of the different phases and their energies. But there is no right or wrong time, just when would suit you best.

WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN PLANNING YOUR SESSION:

  1. PHYSICAL FACTORS: - DO YOU GET PIMPLES, BLOATING, CRAMPS, HEADACHES, SORE BOOBS ETC. AND WHEN?

  2. which energetics throughout the cycle do you like the most?

To explain further we discussed the four phases in terms of seasons.

  1. winter: NEW MOON: menstruation

  2. SPRING: WAXING MOON: PRE OVULATORY PHASE

  3. SUMMER: FULL MOON: OVULATION

  4. AUTUMN: WANING MOON: PRE-MENSTRUATION

Each having their own distinct energies and archetypes that can help you understand the feeling of each.

WINTER- Lends itself to feeling calm and bring in touch with your intuition. It is is akin to the archetype of the crone/high priestess, who has a wealth of life experience and knows herself inside out.

SPRING - Maiden energy with a curiosity for life, playful and innocent. Akin to time of menarche.

SUMMER - Big fiery energy, a powerful, energised phase of your cycle. Has the archetype of Mother, nurturing energy and Creatrix

AUTUMN - Free wild woman, doesn’t care, empowered, enchantress archetype.

SO HOW ARE YOU GOING TO KNOW?

Maybe you intuitively know which of these phases would be the best for you or maybe you need to do a bit of self-enquiry.

Samantha recommends cycle tracking using her cycle tracker everyday for a few cycles so that you can start to see the patterns of how you feel for yourself.
